The bellringers

Melbourne Parish Church has one of only two rings of twelve bells in the Derby Diocese. They are rung from the chancel crossing.

We ring for Sunday Services from 10.00 am to 10.30 am and, when there is an evening service, from 6.00 pm to 6.30 pm.

Our practice night is Tuesday, 7:25 pm to 9.00 pm. We have a wide variety of levels of ringing, from rounds and call changes to Cambridge minor/major. You would be most welcome to join us, whatever your level or expertise. After the practice, we "retire" to the Spirit Vaults for a sociable drink or two.

The Derby Diocesan Association holds a Twelve Bell Practice on the second Thursday each month. The bells are also available for peals, quarters and general ringing.

Here is a short clip taken before one of the Sunday evening services that we uploaded to YouTube.

We also have a short YouTube clip of the handbell ringers. They practice in the church vestry at the same time as the tower bell ringers, which is why you can hear tower bells in the background.
