900 Years of Pipe Organs:

A Musical Journey

Laurence Rogers and Simon Collins will tell the story of how organs developed from primitive beginnings in Medieval times to the sophisticated instruments of today, reflecting church history, changing fashions and successive technical innovations. It will uncover some of the personalities of composers and organ builders that collaborated to make great music. The visual impact of organs will be illustrated with examples from all over Europe and Laurence and Simon will performances of some of the landmark compositions using Melbourne's two historic organs.
